Selective growth is not the same as progress. And to bridge the gap between urbanization and equity, we started Galli-Glow. Our social initiative is dedicated to finding solutions for the infrastructure gap by using renewable energy. It is our plan to provide custom solar grids to Bombay Presidency Education Society, a public school in an underserved area of Mumbai. These solar grids can be used to power light and ventilation systems without needing to rely on public power grids that are highly unreliable in these areas.Â
Our model is built around four main components. We plan on using GPS mapping and on-ground surveys to find zones within schools that most require our intervention. Further, our Solar Seeds campaign fundraiser will raise important capital that will be used to procure high-efficiency solar panels, fans, and LED fixtures designed for high-occupancy school environments. Beyond just fixing the infrastructure, our LightLines drive will train teachers, students, and administrators in the installation and maintenance process, ensuring that the community takes ownership of their own progress. Finally, the Galli-glow Innovation Mechanism is a low-cost, replicable model that uses mechanisms like motion sensors to monitor usage and regulate solar power consumption based on hourly needs. With this, the initiative can spread to other schools soon enough.
