Mumbai is the heart of India’s future, with its skyscrapers and glittering infrastructure. But there are countless children in the same city who have different futures. A future that is coloured by their present, a present where their place of education is in the dark. A subtle but significant factor in determining academic success is the condition of the learning environment. Yet many underserved urban schools in Mumbai struggle to have the most basic infrastructure. There is a direct correlation between school dropout rates and a lack of basic infrastructure, especially electricity. When classrooms are dark and badly ventilated, student focus declines, health risks rise, and the entire educational experience is threatened. This infrastructure gap is more than a logistical matter; it is a matter of equity.
Galli-Glow was founded in December 2025 to try to bridge this gap and transform these spaces. Every student deserves a comfortable classroom environment where they can see the blackboard and have enough air circulation to not suffocate in the summer. This isn’t a big ask; it's a basic human right.
